James Keelaghan
Saturday September 20th 8 PM
Cochrane Alliance Church
Voice and the love of song is what it's about on James Keelaghan's latest CD, "A Few Simple Verses". On this album, James sings other people's songs, longtime favourites of his. "Some I learned when I was very young, songs my dad would sing," he says. "Some are songs that have been important in my musical development, some I chose for emotional reasons. All of them are lyrically superior, melodically appealing."
"And they tell good stories," he adds. It's all part of the Keelaghan tradition, the vital world of humour, love, and adventure that is folk music.

Roxanne Potvin
Friday October 10th 8 PM
Cochrane RancheHouse
Roxanne Potvin - Begin where all North American music starts the Blues, give it to an ingénue who shakes it up by adding a little rock ’n roll, country, folk and jazz. The result: Something new, something old and more importantly something fresh, unique and inspired . . .
That's the story you can apply to crossover artist Roxanne Potvin, the 23-year-old bilingual Gatineau, Quebec based singer, guitarist songwriter. “The Way It Feels,” her vibrant new record produced by Grammy-winning Colin Linden, is a varied and powerful collection of songs mostly originals that range from hard-driving horn-laced R&B like “A Love That’s Simple” to the intimate folk duet with Daniel Lanois “La Merveille.”

Graham Isaacson -To categorize Graham as a typical singer-songwriter, one would be missing the point. On his debut, Memories in Shadows, Portland, Maine-based Graham Isaacson sounds like an old soul. His Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen-inspired music evokes feelings of intimacy, truth, and heartfelt emotion. intimacy, truth, and heartfelt emotion. Graham took Second place honors in the 2006 International Songwriting Competition (ISC), no easy feat considering the who's who panel of judges: Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Joss Stone, and LeAnn Rimes.

Lennie Gallant
Friday March 6th 8 PM
Cochrane RancheHouse
Lennie Gallant is a storyteller, and on his new recording “When We Get There, " he takes the listener on a literary and musical adventure that is sure to guarantee repeated listening. Early reviews suggest that “When We Get There” may be Gallant’s best album yet, and that is saying something considering the critical acclaim and numerous awards this artist has received in the past. Lennie has released 7 albums, which have won him a host of awards and nominations from both the Juno’s and the East Coast Music Awards.
A native of Rustico, a village on the north shore of Prince Edward Island, Gallant grew up surrounded by music, stories, and dramatic scenarios. “There always seemed to be something happening in that small town that everyone would be connected to in some way...some tragedy at sea or house fire, a great hockey victory, some guy pulling out a gun at a wedding... life was definitely not boring.” His love of travel and adventure led him to set off on ocean passages as a crew member on a 47 foot wooden schooner hitch his way around Europe, hop a freighter to the Middle East, and take part in a human rights tour in Central America.

Ray Bonneville
Saturday April 18th 8 PM
Cochrane RancheHouse
Ray Bonneville calls himself a North American. Born in Canada, he moved to the Boston area in his early teens where he started playing guitar and harmonica. His last 30 or so years have seen him seeking adventure and playing music throughout the world. Being a dual citizen allows him the freedom to live between Montreal Canada, and Austin Texas.
Bonneville is a distinctive artist, a man who cooks up a deep groove, blending a unique percussive electric guitar style, a weathered voice, and soulful rack harmonica into image provoking songs that can be believed. His thumb pulses and thumps, his index finger hooks and brushes out a melody, and his hand slaps the guitar for a snare-like effect. He sometimes uses a slide, always plays through a Fender tube amp, and brings his foot down on an amplified piece of plywood on the floor for added percussion. It is a powerful and visceral sound with a lot of forward momentum.
